Survey and base check

Fifteen years and up is a realistic life on a properly installed surface, and looking after it is mostly a matter of keeping the pores open. Leaves, grass clippings and dust are what clog a permeable surface, so a blower or a stiff yard brush every few weeks does most of the work. A wash down once or twice a year handles the rest.
When you jet wash, use a wide fan tip and keep it a foot back. A turbo nozzle held close will strip resin off the top of the stone, and so will a wire brush or a strong solvent. Warm water and a soft brush deal with almost every spill. Nothing grows up through the surface, but seed can root in debris left sitting on it.

My driveway is lifted by a street tree. Can this fix it?
It can improve it a great deal without touching the tree. Resin bound is a flexible bound surface laid at a consistent depth, so it follows the profile underneath rather than fighting it, and it has no joints to step apart at the lift. Where the step is severe, the high point is ground down and the low side built up before laying, which removes the trip hazard. What it does not do is stop the root growing. Expect the profile to keep changing slowly, and expect a flexible surface to cope with that better than concrete did.
Does this help with the city stormwater rules?
It can, and in Los Angeles it comes up often. Resin bound is fully permeable when the sub base beneath it is porous and properly compacted, so rain infiltrates instead of running to the storm drain. That is the behavior low impact development requirements are aiming at. What we cannot promise is how the city treats it in a specific coverage calculation, because that is a local determination. What about the driveway approach and the sidewalk?
Those sit in the public right of way and they belong to the city, not to you. Rules and fees change, so check with the Bureau of Engineering or your local public works counter before you plan the job around resurfacing the whole run to the street. Most jobs simply stop at the property line.
Can it be laid on a steep hillside drive?
Yes, and steep drives are a normal part of the work in this city. Two things change. The first is material handling, because if the truck cannot reach the pad then everything moves by hand or by conveyor, and that labor is real and should appear in the quote. The second is the finish, since on a real grade your installer will specify the aggregate with grip in mind rather than only appearance. Ask to see a similar slope in their previous work before you sign anything.
Will coastal salt damage it the way it damaged my concrete?
The mechanism that ruins beach adjacent concrete is chloride reaching shallow reinforcement and corroding it, which pushes the top inch off from underneath. A resin bound surface contains no steel, so that particular failure does not apply to it. It is a surface though, not a rescue for structure. If your slab has already lost cover over rusting rebar, that has to be repaired before anything goes over it. An approved installer should sound the slab and tell you what is actually happening.
How does it work on a mid century pool deck with old spray texture?
The old topping has to come off completely. Resin bonds to sound concrete and will not bond to a coating that is already letting go, so grinding is not optional and it is a genuine line in the price. Be careful with any bid that skips straight to laying material. Once the texture is off and the slab beneath is clean and sound, it makes an excellent base, and you avoid demolishing a deck that is structurally fine. Coping repair, if it is needed, happens at that same stage.
