Maintenance and lifespan
Fifteen years and up is a realistic life on a properly installed surface, and looking after it is mostly a matter of keeping the pores open. Leaves, grass clippings and dust are what clog a permeable surface, so a blower or a stiff yard brush every few weeks does most of the work. A wash down once or twice a year handles the rest.
When you jet wash, use a wide fan tip and keep it a foot back. A turbo nozzle held close will strip resin off the top of the stone, and so will a wire brush or a strong solvent. Warm water and a soft brush deal with almost every spill. Nothing grows up through the surface, but seed can root in debris left sitting on it.

My drive was poured in the sixties. Is it too old to work with?
Age on its own does not disqualify a slab. What matters is whether it is sound and stable. Stand on each panel and rock it with your weight. A panel that moves under you has voids underneath and needs attention before anything goes on top. Surface crazing, old patches, discoloration and hairline cracks are all fine, because they get covered. What is not fine is a panel broken into loose pieces or one that has dropped an inch at the joint. An approved installer will walk it and tell you which panels need work first.
What about the lip where two panels have stepped?
That gets dealt with before the resin goes down, not covered over. Depending on the size of the step, the high side is ground down, the low side is built up, or the whole panel comes out and gets replaced. Resin bound is laid at a consistent depth, so it follows whatever profile is underneath it. Lay a bound surface straight over a half inch step and you still have a half inch step, only in a nicer color. Ask any bidder specifically how they intend to handle it.
Can it go over the alley apron and the public part?
The section on your property is straightforward. Anything in the public right of way, including the alley apron, the sidewalk crossing and the approach at the curb, is a different question, and it belongs to the city rather than to you. Rules vary and they change, so check with the City of Garland before you plan the job around resurfacing the whole run. Will the old cracks come back through?

Sand works, or use a magnesium chloride product sparingly, and clear snow with a plastic edged shovel rather than a steel blade that can scuff the surface.
How disruptive is this for the neighbors?
Less than a tear out, which is the honest comparison. There is no jackhammer, no dumpster parked on the street for a week and no concrete truck blocking the block. A residential drive is usually one to two days on site with a mixer, a small material stack and a couple of crew.
