Maintenance and lifespan
A correctly installed resin bound surface should give you fifteen years or more. The maintenance is genuinely light. Sweep or blow off leaf litter so the pores stay open, and give it a jet wash once or twice a year on a wide fan tip held back from the surface.
Spills come off with warm water and a soft brush. Do not use a stiff wire brush, harsh solvents or a turbo nozzle held close, because all three can chip the resin skin off the top of the stone. Weeds do not grow up through it, but windblown seed can occasionally root in surface debris, which is another reason to keep it swept.
If a section ever does get damaged, resin bound is repairable. An approved installer can cut out and relay a patch using the same blend rather than replacing the whole surface.

Our driveway is steep. Can resin bound be laid on that grade?
Steep driveways are routine work for a trained crew, and the finished surface has more texture than troweled concrete, which is the point on a hill. There are limits. On a severe grade the installer controls the mix and works in smaller sections, which takes longer and costs more than a flat lot. Drainage needs designing rather than assuming, usually with cross drains and an outfall. Ask any installer directly what grade they have worked on and what they intend to do about water before you accept a price.
Can resin bound go over the concrete we already have?
Usually yes, if the slab is structurally sound. Scaling, crazing, hairline cracking, staining and light spalling are all things an overlay handles. What it cannot do is hold together a slab that is moving. If sections rock under a foot, if there is a step in the surface, or if the same crack opens every spring, the ground is the problem and the surface will not solve it. Expect a straight answer after a proper look. Where one section has failed, replacing that part and resurfacing the whole area often still works out well.
We have had a slip on our hillside. Will this help?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. A surface finish does not stabilize a slope. If ground above or below the property has moved, or if you see leaning trees, tilting walls, stepped cracks or a bulge in the yard, get a geotechnical engineer involved before spending money on any surface. Once the ground has been assessed and any stabilization work is done, resurfacing is a sensible way to finish. Also be careful about putting more water into a slope that has moved, and check with your county.
How much does concrete resurfacing cost in West Virginia?

We are in a flood prone valley. What happens after high water?
The surface itself is not damaged by being submerged, but silt is the issue. Fine mud carried by flood water can settle into the surface and block the pores that make it permeable, so it needs washing through with a hose or a sensible pressure setting once the water has gone. Tell your installer you are in a flood area, because it affects the sub base design and the aggregate blend they will recommend. Also check any local floodplain requirements with your county before work is scheduled.
The nearest installer is an hour away. Does that change anything?
It changes scheduling more than quality. Crews covering this state travel, and they often group jobs by area to make the trip work, so you may wait longer for a start date and you may be offered a window rather than a single day. Travel usually shows up in the price on smaller jobs, which is why a modest job an hour out can cost more per square foot than a bigger one nearby. If neighbors are interested, mention it. Two or three jobs in one area is easier for everyone.

Plan for a shorter window than the rest of the state.
